Who would be interested in purchasing a t-shirt with the empeg logo? It would be either a dark t-shirt with the logo on pocket area, and in the back, or a dark polo shirt with an embroded logo on the front pocket area. If anyone knows any place to have this done, email me.

I will contact empeg to see if they (or anyone else) has a problem with this. I just want to see who would be interested, since we would have to order 30 or so for the mininum order.

i'm not sure if i'm going to have the time to orginize this, so if anyone has the time, i'm willing to help as much as i can.

My wife works for a company that does promotional products (banners, shirts, pens, etc...).

I'll have her talk to her boss to see what kind of discount we can get.

Me too. A very large one or two. Perhaps a couple t-shirts, too, especially if they are made of heavy cotton.

I guess it depends whether they're 100% cotton or other.
Preshrunk or not, I can be either a L or XL. Maybe I should just lose a little weight so I'll be one or the other.

I think there are online t-shirt vendors (eg, the ones who do things like the segfault t-shirts) who you just send the design to and they make them to order (online store, etc).

There might be approval needed from us for the design (so if they made some nike shirts, nike would have to give the go-ahead) but I expect if the design's fine that wouldn't be a problem.

I have a friend that owns a screen printing company but he's in a different state than I. I can maybe try to get a hold of him and get some quotes. I don't think he does embroidery though. He can get different types of Tshirts, from cheap ones to Hanes Beefy Ts, with or without pocket etc.
On a newsgroup that I used to frequent (alt.coffee), before I got too busy doing real work, a fellow made up some shirts for the NG and sold them through amazon.com auction so the payment and ordering part was really easy to handle, sales price was a flat rate of course, not a true auction. Just an idea to handle orders and sales.
If there is enough interest for just screen printed Tshirts, I can get a hold of my friend...

OK - my wife got the pricing info from her boss.

The setup of the logo for the embroidery machine is a flat $20.

Jerzee polo shirts (including per shirt embroidery fee) are $18 for S-XL, $19.50 for XXL, $21 for XXXL, and if they can get them, XXXXL will be $22.50. Shipping would, of course, be extra.

If we want to go this route, I don't mind making the arrangements, handling shipping, etc. Also, I don't know how long I'll be able to get these prices. I'm sure they'll be good for the next month or two, but six months down the road, who knows.

I guess the next queston is about the logo.

This is definitely open for discussion -- I was thinking about the blue empeg logo, with a black outline for light colored shirts, and a white outline for dark colored shirts. Comments?

Also - empeg guys:

I know we want to keep the proper aspect ratio, but is there a logo size that you'd prefer we use?

What is necessary to get permission to use the logo? (the embroiderer is going to require a written statement of some sort)

What are the Pantone, RGB, etc. values for the blue used in the logo? (I'm not sure what info the embroider is going to need yet)

Thanks,

Bill B.

Rob Schofield and his wife produced a small run of embroidered empeg T-Shirts about a year ago. Have you considered asking him if he'd be interested in producing this batch? Presumably he already has the program for his machine.

I would want to see the design or a sample, and then I will provide whatever permissions are required. I'll have to check with Rio Legal, but I'm sure there won't be a problem.

David (dmoss@riohome.com) produced the now-defunct empeg style guide, so he should be able to provide you with the design criteria that you need.

Regards

Rob

I thought I wasn't allowed to sell them, though? That's primarily why I haven't said anything on this thread.

We can run off "empeg" logo shirts, or "empeg" with a small Tux, and any additional text (in a limited number of font faces). The colours were only pale blue or white, various sizes.

Well, unless someone else can step up to the plate and organize the project, i might just have my room-mate paint the shirts up. I'd be happy with just a T-shirt with the logo painted, or ironed on. I know i can purchase the materials to do that for a few shirts.

I would however, prefer the polo shirts with the embroider logo, but I honestly don't have the time to organize that.

If anyone is interested in a simple t-shirt with a simple painted design, email me at chip@Jungle.net. I'm sure I can make a hand full of these, otherwise, i'll just wait to see if someone else can put the time and resources into making a polo shirt for everyone.

The response on this thread is great, so i'm sure it can be done.

If the person who is going to take on the task of producing these shirts contacts me by email (rvoisey@riohome.com) I'll sort out the details with him. Would you guys hate to have a (small) Rio logo on the shirt in addition to the (large) empeg logo?

I know of a good company in Cambridge that does shirts - we've used them for all the meet shirts. In fact I'm stopping by there this week with the artwork for the next Amersfoort meet shirt, so I'll check out their quantity pricing. It might be better for the person who takes this on to use a local company, though.

Survey T-Shirts are going out now (they only arrived a couple of days ago - supplies were late). Sorry it took so long.

i can see your logic as to havin the small rio logo

Out of intrest what is the amersfoot t shirts going to be like as we might be able just to order a few more of those or are they going to be special for the meet

The meet shirt is specific to the meet - a momento just for those that attend. As with the last Amersfoort shirt and the Woodside shirt, it will include the date and location of the meet.

I don't think i want a rio logo on my shirt. I think mainly because i just want to remember where the origional came from. empeg made it possible, they did all the work.

I agree, no Rio logo please. Wouldn't be a pain in the ass, but I'd prefer a plain polo with empeg on it... rio is ... well, aren't they just kinda distributor who also produces the player now? At least they didn't create it...

Maybe you could make a polo shirt with the empeg logo on the front breast and rio on the lower sleeve.

I've seen this with other techie shirts and it looks good.
