robricc carpal tunnel Registered: 30/10/2000 Posts: 4931 Loc: New Jersey, USA	Does anyone know if the Microsoft Ultimate TV boxes made for DirecTV don't require and extra PVR service fee (like tivo) since the service is long-dead? That "service" is definitely not dead, and DirecTV is more than happy to charge you for it. That said, I'm not 100% positive there's still a fee, but I can't imagine why there wouldn't be. _________________________ -Aaron

I always heard rumors that if Tivo closed-up shop, the boxes would all be granted lifetime subscription status and continue working without phoning home. Since DirecTV is the payee, I guess there is no reason for them to stop charging for DirecTivo or UltimateTV service. I thought I heard UltimateTV was free since its death in 2003.
