Quote: what is the phonetic american english pronunciation of Ljubljana?
It's not so hard: l-yoob-l-yanah, but there's no pause between the L and the Y
You can also use the german name, which is much easier: Laibach
You've guessed it: the industrial 80's band "Laibach" are from Ljubljana.

Thanks. With a last name like Bjorgen, one would think I could figure that out on my own. Oh well.

A little square metal sign with a picture of a happy family or something like that? "Osigurala Croatia" means "Insured by Croatia" - our oldest 'national' insurer (120 years; not very much, but we were part of Austria then). Interseting trivia: it was founded mostly by Catholic Church capital. They want it back now. I thought Christ drove merchants out of the temple

Hmmmmmmmmm. Considering that the only thing in life that makes me happy is organizing *stuff*, this may be a perfect job. How much is the current page open to reorganization/redesign? Would I need to learn PHP to work it?
I would love to reogranize the RioCar.org download section. Just give me a little time to figure out a good system, and I'll get right on it!
Please don't let this die! Did Tom give you access to modify the Downloads section of riocar.org? Any ideas on it?

Oops, missed his reply about that. I'll look into getting you set up with editing powers this weekend FireFox31. No real PHP skill is needed, just basic HTML tag experience.

Not letting it die, don't worry. Thanks for checking Drakino. I have to see what's out there before a method of organization can come together. Maybe I'll hack together some mockups of layouts (if the layout can change, that is). Here's a thought: Assuming that "riocar.org" is a non-profit organization, we could use Google's Public Service Search on the site. It's free, has no ads, can be altered to our "look and feel", and uses Google's typical super search power. Maybe that would help people find stuff quickly. Or would the database nature of the site get in the way?

I would ask that things become FAQ entries instead of sticky threads. This forum already has 2 stickies out of 12 threads on the first page.
Perhaps the BBS softwawre needs a de-stick thread option for users.

Ok, I modify my request - can it be stickied until Firefox31 gets things arranged on riocar.org or it gets FAQ'd?

Huh, interestingly enough, the bbs doesn't count stickied threads in the number it shows. I guess that negates my argument. It just seems like stickied threads are aimed at forums where people don't know how to search or read the FAQ. I'd personally prefer that stickied threads be used for short term announcements to get peoples attentions, but if I'm in the minority it's sure not gonna kill me to scroll a bit more.

I've been away from the bbs for a while and doubt I'll ever catch up on everything I've missed... My current project is my carputer Basically, it's small PC in the trunk with WiFi, a GPS and ethernet to the empeg. Without a screen, I'll be needing the empeg for audio feedback. Some of the feedback can be pre-built wav files (along the line of TTSclock), but for other things, I'll need full TTS (e.g. reading news headlines or my email to me. So that'll get me working on TTSd again and I hope to finish up the next couple simple steps of making a single binary that doesn't need a shell script to run (really shouldn't be too bad, the hard part is already done). In the mean time, the download links for the same old versions of TTSD have changed. They're now: TTSD 1.0a1 TTSD 1.0a2TTSD 1.0a3If someone does oraganize a central download page, please grab the files from the above and mirror them... I don't have good upstream bandwidth

Good to see you back again!
I'm not yet promising to deliver on the "central download page" bit, but because I'm very interested in the ttsd project, I'm happy to mirror the releases on my page, linked in my signature.

Central download page will happen! Wait till the button project is on auto-pilot and I get my 64meg board to test all this cool software. Then the depth of the Programming forum and external empeg sites will be mined for every piece of empeg software that can be found!

I don't know who takes care of this page, but several links are not functional. http://coderage.org/empeg/ I've scoured the internet with Google, hoping to find a download site for empwake, but I haven't been succesful. Does anyone have any experience with this ap? Is it worth tracking down? Any info would be appreciated.
I'm currently using my PC as an alarm clock, but would like to use an empeg.
tonyc has a page on empwake on his homepage, here, but the tarball isn't where the link on the page points to. Poked around a bit but didn't locate it... try sending tonyc a PM, maybe he still has a copy stashed somewhere. I just found a copy of 0.95alpha on disk here, if anyone wants it, holler and I'll post it.

Ah- yes I found that page also, but haven't yet tried to email tonyc. Do you use empwake? Or did you only download and save for future use? I'm wondering how well it works 'day-to-day'. Thanks!

Whoops.
Sorry, those links have been broken for awhile and I've totally been lazy. Fixed now.
I can't vouch for whether empwake currently works well, as my empeg generally remains in my car now, so I don't use it anymore. When I did use it, it worked quite well. What it doesn't have is any kind of automatic installation like emphatic does, so if you decide to install it, you should be familiar with the UNIX shell, vi, and so forth.

One more for the list... mt-daapd for the empeg. A port of mt-daapd which allows any computer on your network running iTunes to browse and stream music from your empeg. -Mike

That is my site. I am not currently active in the Empeg community and don't really have time to maintain that list (plus, I don't actually have write access to those pages at the moment - long story )
If someone wants to set up an Empeg wiki, I'll commit to moving that info over to the wiki and fixing as many links as I can. I consider those pages to be in the public domain - anyone is free to copy them wholesale and/or modify their copy as they wish.
If no-one is currently in a position to set up a wiki but one gets set up at a later time, maczrool, tfabris and pgrzelak have my email address. The email address on those pages should continue to work in the future, also.

pbwiki offers free wiki hosting. It looks not half bad, if someone wants to set it up.
