Wow! This new build is awesome!
Sorry guys, we're not allowed to release it :-(
Maybe Drakino, Mark Lord or Firefox31 or one of the other guys at "The Meet!" will pop in with some other details later on. A pity you all couldn't make it :-(

Other than stability (which is always good), any new features?
What I really want when I reinstall my empeg: SOUP VIEWS (database-derived virtual "playlists")
Creating manual playlists in something like Emplode or Jemplode was fine the first time around, but I have so many othe things on my plate that I'd really like to just dump music onto the player in the future without any care as to where I'm dumping it. It's always properly tagged, so simple display/sort options for ARTIST, TITLE, ALBUM, etc. will work well.
So, no one posting a BBS simulcast of the meet's goings-on? Some of poor bastards have to stay away and work.

Unfortunately we don't have an Internet connection here at the meet. I am posting this using a 19200k dial-up link on my new pocket pc.
Rest assured though, we are all having a great time...

Not quite as good as a simulcast, but here goes:
First we saw [censored] then talked about [censored]. Then we had food. Then more [censored]. Oh, and can't forget [really censored] and the [censored] stuff.

Soups? How passe! But I think I saw them in there someplace, as lessor features..
Now the automatic [censorted] using a [censorted] connected to the [censorted] port is truly awesome. I even have a [censored] to bring home for general use .. cannot wait to try it all out.
Now in the Heathrow lounge getting pissed.
cheers

Don't forget about Patrick's new, spur of the moment (Censored), which - by the way - he has already completely redesigned and routed a PCB for this morning! First prototype should be ready in about (Censored) from what I hear this evening, depending on whether he can get the (Censored) in sufficient quantities.

It's going to be about oooh, at least (Censored) hours or so? if Patrick gets the (Censored) working in the next few days in between doing tuners. Now that will be something!

How friendly is the automatic [censored] wrt the two 'stolen' [censored] used in my first hijack hack? Will it coexist nicely? Or will I have to reprioritise?
EDIT: Is it me or is the automatic censoring on this board flaky now? It keeps censoring out large parts of the sentence, not just an offending word. I guess that'll teach me to not type the word shit as a shortcut for writing [censored]

It is murder...but nice murder. Cool things to come...memories of getting a Top Secret CD last year. Dang, I wish I could have gone, but I've got to say that swirl of mystery around Amersfoort surprises is a budding tradition I can't complain about. The Guys keep showing up with magic. I hope I can get there next year.
In the meantime......Hey, Stu, can you do a reverse vasectomy on my MIC input????

True enough Peter. But both of mine are running 2.01 now and the disc hardly spins up which is I'm happy with.

Version 2.01?!?!?!?
I know there has been a lot of hinting, but that was assumed to be a new alpha. This sounds very interesting...

all the new releases now detect more memory if its available. Although I found for the 1st time I'm now using reservecache. Although that said, I've configured it to start more as well. Can't remember much else. Beer must have degaussed my memory

Of course, I may know more than I am letting on... That is part of the mystery... The drama... The suspense!
In any case... Other parts of the BBS. Long dormant. Well, we just merged with the Rio Receiver and Rio Central... Hmmm... Coincidence??? Especially with your use of italics in your post... Serve... Hmmm...
Edit: Fixed a spelling error before anyone else caught / commented on it...

OK then so the empeg functions as a Rio Receiver? I assume that's the version that never spins up the hard drive. I'm fairly sure that's right given what Paul just said.
Can it also function like a Rio Central for Rio Receivers (and of course the forementioned empeg Rio receiver functionality) around the place?

It cannot function as a Rio Central, that is the work that Mark was referring to wanting to do within HiJack.

Yeah we already figured out the AutoEQ feature. We're tired of guessing what's new since I think we know the majority of the new stuff. Or do we?
We just want to play with it now...
I for one would really like to see if the playlists are saved properly now. That's a real nuisance to me.

When (if :-( ) we ever get our hands on v3a8 will the new AutoEQ feature be any use in helping me to set up my Pheonix Gold 1/3 octave equaliser?

I doubt it. It should only be useful if you use the empeg's internal EQ, not an external one.
If you want to set up your external equalizer, use an RTA analyzer or go to your local high-end stereo shop and have them use theirs.

I must admit I don't know jack about setting EQ's etc..., but could you not run the AutoEQ feature, then note the changes, reset it to flat, and duplicate the changes on the external EQ?
Or am I over-simplifying?

Mmm..
I'm trying to use the AutoEQ function here, and not much is happening. I've got the mic connected, and all I see is this screen after selecting AutoEQ (screenshot attached).
This is in docked operation, with only two outputs connected (I forget which two). I suppose it must be trying to use the other two outputs, right?
EDIT: never mind. I just found the white/pink noise files on the CD (oops). Loading them now

That's the exact response I'm hoping to get after I blow away my horrible EQ settings with V3a8. I just *know* my stock speakers can do better.
Mark, what kind of mic did you use and where did you place it in the car? Did you do any post-adjusting for the mic's input curve (or whatever that's called)?
Oh weekend, please get here soon so I can use my shiney new V3a8 CD!

It hasn't had the safety inspection yet, because i haven't had time (or help; my brother's going to come help me) to replace the batteries.

It's possible I can hang out tomorrow if anyone wants to do something somewhere. Anyone want to meet at a restaurant or something?

Those of you who used Paypal back in February for certain donations may want to check your e-mail.

Just to finally confirm one of the builds that was on the CD:
Mark, any update on Hijack allowing a switch back and forth?
