I am using 2.0 final-Windows XP Home and USB...but I still can't complete a sync without having to either run it again or reconnect the USB cable....It eventually gets done but I fear something is amiss...I get various error codes, but I cannot figure out what they mean..

Any help?

Thanks,

Ed

Greetings!

What kind of error codes and messages do you see?

Paul...all types! I will try to upload some songs tonight and make a log of the error codes.

What I find intresting is the fact that I am eventually able to get through the sync and all songs and playlists are where they should be. So what would cause this to happen?

Unknown. There are a few different things that could be happening. That's why the log files and error codes will help.

Now that I am reading the RElease Notes I can safely say I did nothing at all to install the driver ....

OK, so now that I have had the chance to check on my driver I am in fact using the RIOHD.SYS driver, which it seems for XP is not a good thing.

Looking at the release notes for updating the driver, it tells you to ....Choose to install the driver from a specific location and point it at wherever you've unzipped the emplode installer....

The emplode utilities are downloaded onto my C drive, but when I find the folder the OK button is grayed out. So then how would I go about updating the driver if the Wizard will not let me select the folder that the driver is located in???!!??!
thanks,
Ed

...also, it seems that it will only let me update drivers that are located in my Windows folder..FWIW

Emplode 2.0 must be fully unzipped, and there should be an .INF file in the folder where you unzipped it along with rioxdrvsys. You must dig through the Windows wizard dialog boxes in the device manager until you find a button that says "HAVE DISK" and press it. Then feed it that INF file.

At least I think that's how it's supposed to go.

He already read the release notes I'm sure. I think he was trying to follow them, but probably got lost by the fact that he never pressed the "HAVE DISK" button. Either that or he was trying to get the driver from the "program files/rio/emplode" folder instead of from wherever he unzipped the 2.0 distro.

There is a browse button AFTER the "Have Disk" button I think. But you have to at least get to the point where you hit the Have Disk button.

Since I don't have XP running in front of me, I can't give you the exact button presses. If someone else has the exact button presses, perhaps they can post them here?
