Got the PM (sorry I was slacking) and installed the SW. What's next?

An aside: anyone ever have the audio drop out for ~1 second, evrey 7-20 seconds? Happens sometimes - haven't been able to determine the trigger.

I have it - but not quite as frequently. 1-sec dropouts at moderate intervals. Have been blaming my curent makeshift set-up, with an XP box running ARM from a samba-served file store on a Linux box.

I think it's about time for me to have a seperate music server, that I keep in a closet or something. There's 2 other people using this one (wife and reoommate) and it'd be simpler that way.

Question: I've never used Linux. I've been born and raised on Windows.

Should I use a Linux or XP Pro box? (I have win 2k also)

Thanks.

Well, I feel (rather strongly) that Linux (or even better, OpenBSD) is far superior as a server platform. But there is a significant learning curve.

My advice is go for Linux *iff* you also want to use the opportunity to learn about Linux. If you just want a server with minimum hassle, go for WinXP based on the "better the devil you know" principle. Avoid w2k.

Hmm. Learning curve. I definitely want to learn Linux, but life's too hectic right now to take that on. I just want music that plays reliably.

XP it is. Thanks.

I seem to be having the same problem. When I last experienced this I was runnging jrec 2.5, jetty 4.2.11, trio 0.1.4.alpha4. I was using ARM with DHCP disabled, getting DHCP from my linksys BEFSR41 router. I had a dhcp range of 192.168.1.129 through 192.168.1.200. All other devices on my network are fixed ip. I've since turned off DHCP in the router and re-activated in ARM. I'm trying to see if this will correct the problem. My hard deive is about a year old so its pretty fast. Can't remember the exact specs.

I am having trouble getting the Player tab to make the player info page display on the web interface. Initially it didn't work, then it did, now I can't get it to work at all. I see the Status page, but when I click on the Player tab, it either ignores my click or turns light grey without switching the Player page (Status page remains visible). I am on WinXP Pro SP1, running with ARM as server, have JRE 1.4.2_01 installed. I have 3 Rios active on my LAN.

It looks like there's an exception generated on Java console in response to clicks, but the Copy button doesn't seem to copy it to the Windows clipboard (any tips?).
The first error listed is:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: setSelectedIndex: 3 out of bounds
at javax.swing.JComboBox.setSelectedIndex(Unknown Source)
at trio.applet.TRioAppletPlayerPanel.getModePanel(Unk. src.)
etc...

Thanks for all your work!

Well, I was able to get the Player tab to work again. It seems like when I tried to get to the tab for a freshly-booted player, it wouldn't work. But if I started something playing from the player itself, then I could click on the tab. Is this to be expected?

jvolino - I have the same problem frequently. I think the "system" is finicky about what order you do things, and how long you wait between starting each app. I haven't found the recipe yet.

Anybody know the recipe?

i.e.
Turn receiver on
Wait 15 sec
start tRio
Wait 25 sec
start web interface
be happy, play music.

Well, I've got the front end working at the office (at home no problems) and everything seems to work fine except:
1. I hit "play" and nothing happens. I can skip to the next song but it will not play. I can also pull up a radio station and everything "looks" fine except it won't play.

2. The only play options are "quen n play" or "radio" nothing else.

It was much easier getting the old PII 400 to work.

Nevermind... for some reason I had to assign static ip's to the trio server as well as the player which was done in my sonicwall firewall. Works perfect now.

Cheers!

Bruce,

I've had another look at this and the problem is actually happening in JReceiver and not tRio.

Do you know how to use mysql? If not, look at the Verify Database Initialization step in the jreceiver install instructions (http://jreceiver.sourceforge.net/jrec-install-server.html).

Please run the following query in mysql:

select * from mfile where src_id = 7200;

The 2nd value this returns is the key into the folder table. Then run this query (changing nnnn to the key value) and let me know what you get:

select * from folder where id = nnnn;

Cheers
Paul

Judd,

This looks like something I'll have to look into. Please write it up as a bug at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=72920&atid=536118 .

Nothing too juicy here I don't think... Anything else? Sorry for the slow comeback, I was busy helping the wife have a baby.

Steps:
1. open http://pacemaker:8090/trio-applet.htm
2. Select Player tab. Note page opens in Radio mode.
3. Select Jukebox. Client hangs. Note logs:

Bruce,

How often does this happen and can you recreate it easily? It been reported to me once before (in 0.1.4.alpha1), but no one else seems to have encountered it and I can't for the life of me recreate it. And so I was hoping that it was something wierd with their jreceiver set up. But alas.

Remind me, is jrec running on a Linux or Windows box?

Cheers
Paul

Well, I'm having problems getting the web interface at the office working properly once again. The receiver works fine but the web interface will not go to the "player" tab. The "status" tab works fine and even allows me to reboot the unit. The strange thing is that it *was* working fine two days ago just after I set the static ip addresses.

Attached is the info from the java console.

java version 1.4.2

Affirmative. The server is scrapped together from parts, so I have three drives, each with a folder in the root. Named Start, Middle, and End. Jreceiver is set up to scan all three as roots.

Happens every time for me, following the steps described. I can live with it if I'm the only one. I tend to live in the Queue and Play mode.

Could also be my slow boot drive (and hence the jreciever drive). If it's doing a huge query of the database on a per track basis, that might exceed a timeout somewhere down the pipe. I'm working to replace the drive (actually not working, but as soon as I land a job I will! <grin>).

Also, my MP3 stash is not the cleanest. It was built from P2P, windows, mac, and linux systems. I've been crawling through the tags and filenames and fixing all the out of range characters from the non-MS OS's, but it's going to take me years. If it's excepting on something doublebyte or the like, I wouldn't be surprised.

My setup - Win2kServer, trio 0.1.4, Java 1.4.2, Jreceiver 0.2.5, ARM (dell cd), tigerdirect rio

Bruce,

To fix the "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/net/ssl/SSLSocket" error, we need to add jsse.jar to your java classpath. To do this, edit trio.bat and find the following:

-Djava.class.path="%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;..."

and then change it to read:

-Djava.class.path="%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\jsse.jar;..."

Hopefully this will fix your problem. But I'm still clueless as to why it's wanting to use a secure socket.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers
