Just browsing through things and trying to work out what the latest version of the Empeg player software is and found...

empeg car Version 2.00 (release notes dated 1-Apr-2003)
empeg car Version 2.00-beta13 (release notes dated 24-July-2002)
Rio Car Version 3.00-alpha7 (release notes dated 13-Feb-2004)

So... If the beta version of 2.00 is dated 9 months before the release version, is the release version the latest one or is the beta version the latest one as it's 2.00+something?

Also, how stable is v3a7? Given that I was planning on flattening my player in the not too distant, should I go v3a7, should I stay with v2.00/2.00b13 or is there likely to be a stable (or beta, anyway) release of v3 soon?

And, finally, does Hijack require any specific version?

There, that'll do for now. Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Nick.

empeg car Version 2.00 (release notes dated 1-Apr-2003) is the most recent v2 software. The 2.00 beta versions came before the 2.00 release version.

Haven't used v3 much, can't comment on that.

Hijack is happy with either version.

Just upset I can't get there.

It's "bated", not "baited", unless you've been eating a lot of fish.

Sorry.

You can always tell when people like or dislike certain types of food. For example, some people will call it "sushi" while others will call it "bait"...

Unless having cooked rice under raw fish disqualifies the entire piece, most of the sushi I eat is raw.

What's the general consensus of opinion on the usability of v3 then?

Cheers,

Nick.

Personally, I've had it loaded since last Amersfoort with few problems, but I'm neither the most demanding, nor geeky Empeg owner:
Problem 1) It sometimes freezes, pressing the RH - or fast forward - button, then re-starting it solves that.
Problem 2) It doesn't always synchronise, but that doesn't seem to actually cause any problems.
