Just to let everyone know that things are still moving, here's a quick note.

The event is still on, don't be worried about that: a web site will be going up soon for general event information, and initial bookings for rooms and meals, tee shirts, etc. What would be useful is if those of you who are planning to attend please take a few minutes sometime soon to think about your schedule and choose the number of nights you are going to need for the event at the hotel. There is no problem with extra days before or after the event, but you will need to note this in the booking form when it goes online.

I hope you are all looking forward to the event, and I am certainly looking forward to seeing you all there!!

Fantastic! I've let work know that I will be MIA on the Thursday before so we won't miss the festivities on Friday night again.

Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Just to have it in one place, what are the plans? I don't mean what are we doing, but, rather, when are we supposed to be there?

A brief note on hotel costs:

I've confirmed with the hotel manager the price of the rooms: they are E28 per person per night, if you share a double room. All rooms are double; if you want a room to yourself, there is a premium of E19 per night. The price includes a breakfast: if you want another one seperately, it's E9.95. We have 35 rooms reserved, and there is loads of room available if we want more.

The bookings should be made through me: please DON'T send me emails or anything else at the moment - please use the official booking form when it comes on line. If you mail me, it is very likely (given my current situation) that this will go astray and you will be Sole Out of Luck. Sorry!!! (You may also book a room directly if you want, but then you will not be entitled to our agreed group discount and will have to pay the full room price).

We have booked the large conference room, and this year there should be fans to improve the ventilation. Start readying your Bring and Buy bits as we will be doing the same as last year. If you want to sell that almost new Nav system, then bring it along!

A program for the weekend's events is being put together now, and the event prices will be fixed sometime soon. You will need to prepay as in previous years.

Tee shirt designs are being finalised now, and it is likely they will be the same price as last year. Orders will need to be in at LEAST by the third week of June: again, please use the official order form when it comes on line - otherwise, orders will not be guaranteed.

The beer has been reserved (they've started chilling the cask now) and I will be talking to our friendly butcher (the same guy) for more of his delicious concoctions within the next few days.

I hope you're all starting to get that feeling of excitment - I certainly am! (that could be because I know what's on the program )

Will keep you posted with more details soon(ish).

Nice nice nice! Thanks for the update. Now, to do what I should have done 5 months ago; buy my plain ticket.

Do you think room-sharing will be assigned randomly if we don't come with a pair in mind? Just curious. See you there.

Geatings Mr. Schofiel

I originally was going to participate in a motorcycle meet in Italy, but change of plans makes it possible for me to join the meet in Amersfoorth instead. Maybee I can fit my empeg on my brand new Suzuki SV650S? That would be very cool...

The empeg is currently not installed in my car. I just got the latest in-car navigation system from Pioneer (Avic-X1). The empeg will be fitted soon so I can play all my mp3's on the Pioneer (yes, it's mp3 compatible - but then i have to burn one large pile of mp3 cd's...).

Anyway - I look forward to see you again.

All the best

The empeg contingent are now booked - Hugo and Claire are coming in the Noble; John G is driving his car with one of his rather large subs competing for space with John R and Dave E (our latest addition to the team); I'm driving the empeg A-Class with Mike C and Peter; and Roger is coming in his new Focus with Jen and long time empeg groupie Mel.

Sadly my Supra will not be attending due to the engine still being in a different location to the rest of the car.

Any requests for presentation topics this year?

Rob

Any requests for presentation topics this year?

I can think of several, but most (sadly) wind up in the "Wish List" category. For example: "differences between 3.0 beta 1 and 2.0", "the Mark3 - production timeline", "empeg Ltd. acquires Apple and what this means for empeg, karma and former ipod users", "memory and disk expansion - breaking all the limits", etc.

A semi-serious request: can the presentations be recorded and made available for people who, alas, cannot make it to the Amersfoort meet for whatever reason?

Some of us geekier types might like to hear of an overview of:

(1) How the "filter graph" software plugs together, and potential for (eventual) third-party plugins?

(2) How Empeg/SB/Rio/DNNA/nameofthemonth organizes and shares (or not) code among various products -- a family tree kind of thing. This might even lead to teasers of new stuff that might someday make it into a Car build..

or perhaps

(3) Anatomies of a Supra.

Cheers

Nah, we should just direct the camera to the Noble, as to keep our remote audience interested.

I'll be bringing my 172 over along with my g/f and her friend who will probably be spending most of the weekend in the 'dam. But will probably come back for the evenings. Anyone coming over on the ferry from Hull? If so, have you been quoted better than £500 for the return trip.

I really must get round to building and installing my sub enclosure. The driver's been sat in a box in my living room for 8 months!

(3) Anatomies of a Supra

Don't get him started - his blood pressure will go up

I am sure Rob will be able to give a little presentation as we have taken about 2 zillion (that's a Lot, you know!) pictures of the blood, sweat and tears of this most protracted of re-builds.....
