I sure as heck don't see any remarkable difference between the prices at Apple's store and those at the various online Apple resellers.

There are deals to be had, but in general you are correct that they aren't as compelling as some of what you can find in the PC world. I guess it depends on the consumer, I don't expect the average person to spend a lot of time on deal of the day websites trying to find the best price. Most people will still buy at MSRP or at whatever (minimal) discount happens to be easily available.

If you are looking to save a few bucks on a mac try reading http://www.dealmac.com for a few days. For example they have a $100 off deal through amazon currently. Also take a look at http://www.smalldog.com for deals on used and refurbished macs.
