On the Sony Homepage I found some Infos about a new car-radio with voice recognition. Nothing new to empeg, I know. But there´s a feature which is maybe interesting for the empeg and should be not to hard to realize. Sony´s car-player (MDX-C8970R) is (or will be) able to record some voice-memos.
What do you think about this?
Could this be an interesting idea and could it maybe be implemented in the Mk II?

Waiting hard for the Mk II

Sampling from the mic input is restricted to 11Khz, but this shouldn't be a problem for voice recording. There are issues with where to put the data - it's too risky to mount the music partition for writing in the car, but with some simple ADPCM compression it should be possible to fit a lot of mono speech on a scratchpad partition.

We do have rather a lot of other work to complete first though!
