Greetings!

Put it this way, there are a lot of people who bought 5 or 10. If this actually works (and I still doubt it immensely, since there is probably a disclaimer on the site somewhere that they are not liable for errors or typos), then I (and probably everyone else) will be going through for people who need them.

I'm not sad at all that I missed this. SonicBlue doesn't deserve any of my money. Not even a penny of it.

Actually, if I remember correctly peter mentioned somewhere that there currently is a 137GB cap on expandability but he did say that could be overcome.

Since SB are in California, they are subject to this. As I understand it, that means that any email or web-receipt such as those above are legally acceptable.

It does occur to me, however, that SB are bankrupt. The company still exists, but you might have difficulty bringing suit against a bankrupt company, should they decide not to honour this "offer". At the very least, you'd have to get in line behind everybody else.

Yes, that occurred to me too. But IIRC, we'd be getting in line *with* everyone else, not *behind* them. Goods owed, legitimate creditor. We're one above the shareholders

But of course, as a bankrupt company, they'd probably only have to make good on a percentage of the cost of goods rather than the goods owed. So maybe 10% of 5c....

I guess I'll add myself to the list if anyone has one left over after outfitting all of the rooms in the house.

I ordered 5 and had the order accepted less than a minute before the Out of Stock went up. That was around 8:30 EST. I'd love to dole them out to you guys, but I think I'm going to have to ebay them to get funds for my upcoming honeymoon. Hopefully none of you will begrudge me that.

Just thought I'd relay this conversation I just had with my wife:

Me: "I just tried to buy a new mp3 player this morning. You weren't up so I'm sorry I couldn't check it with you first."

Wife: *groan* "What is it this time?"

Me: (Explains Rio Central finishing with) "I think it was normally priced at several hundred dollars, but they had it listed for one penny."

Wife: (Silence for a few seconds, then) "You only ordered one?"

Sometimes I just can't win!
Hopefully she won't be dissapointed when we never get a tracking number.

Just ordered 3, they went back in stock for a minute. Then it went back to out of stock.

Ditto. I tried to order some for myself (one for me, one for my parents, one as a backup), and the web site had inexplicable problems digesting my credit card. And, of course, they're also out of stock.

If any of you actually get some of these things, I'd love to get one or two of them. (My parents, in particular, could really use this thing, since I can't seem to convince them to buy a new-enough computer to do ripping on their own.)

*sigh*

Man, I wish I had stayed up later last night. If anyone actually gets them and wants to unload one I'LL BUY IT!

But I'd be seriously surprised if SB actually ships them. The funny this is, though - if SB is going to refund all of your credit cards rather than honor the sale - it will probably cost them more in fees to do that than they will be refunding. I have a feeling some poor web programmer is in deep trouble right about now. Or maybe it was the DBA.

Just got this, 3 orders cancelled on 2 different cards. My cards are fine. Is anyone else getting this?

We're sorry, but we were not able to validate your credit card
information, and we are unable to process your SONICblue web order #384683
at this time. Please resubmit your order with a different credit card, or
contact our customer service team by calling 800-468-5846 if you need
additional assistance with placing your order.

I think I'm going to have to ebay them to get funds for my upcoming honeymoon.

Anybody have a sense of what these things are actually worth? I just did a search on eBay, and it appears that there have been no Rio Central auctions. Not a one.

based on my past dealings with the estore, i would expect the shipping confirmation to come after the merchandise arrives.

Is anyone else getting this? (Credit card rejection message)

Yup, that's exactly what I got. Also annoying, I did all this registration and crap back when they had the MkIIa firesale. They seem to have flushed their database, forcing me to enter my address and whatnot all over again, which, of course, didn't work.
