Yesterday I upgraded my player to 2.00 final, and now it behaves strange in the car:
When turning off the ignition, it just continues playing - so I have to switch it off manually.
It didn't do that before I upgraded from 2.00-beta13.

The only thing I changed, besides upgrading the software, was getting rid of the Plays: - counter.
AFAIK there is no user-changeable setting that would cause this behaviour, is there !?

Check the Hijack "Force AC/DC Power" menu entry. It should be set to "normal", and it should also indicate "Currently on DC/Car" mode or something. If not, then perhaps your AC jack has gone defective (common).

I don't have Hijack installed on that player (if I do I get gaps between tracks quite frequently).
Is there anything I should do about that AC jack, or is this going to be my only problem ?

To see if it is the AC jack, see if you have the fader menu in the sounds menu, if it is there then you are in 'car' mode and the jack is probably fine, if the menu is missing the empeg thinks it isn't in the car so would explain why it is ignoring the ignition line.

Is there a way of repairing the AC connector? I remember this came up a long time ago but I can't remember the answer; this is my situation as well and though I've used Hijack to set it manually I'd like it to work automatically.

TIA,

Paul

Desolder and replace with one that works; you need to check that it's the plug that is faulty though and not something else. The mk2s are better protected than the mk1s in this regard, which could blow an inverter if a bad PSU was used, giving the same symptoms (stuck on home or car mode)

We have thousands (literally) of these spare, not sure if Rob took some when he took over support.

If it is just the power jack, you might be able to "fix" it by using Hijack to "Force DC/Car mode" (long knob press to access the hijack menu).

A slightly more useful fix for those with tuners in their cars (but not at home) might involve Kim Covil's tuner detection patch. If a tuner is found, it forces DC mode, otherwise, AC mode. I used this with excellent results for a brief period of time when my AC adaptor flaked out. The benefit above the Force DC mode is that it's automatic. Drawback is, of course, it requires that you have a tuner in your car, and no tuner at home.

Well, actually, that type of functionality (Tuner detection/non-detection) is also part of HIjacks "Force AC/DC Power Mode" menu.. try it!

Ahh. I haven't had the adaptor plug flake out on me recently so I hadn't paid attention. Back when it was happening for me, no such thing existed in Hijack, or if it did, nobody knew about it.
