I've been wondering if it would be possible to build an FM interface which includes RDS encoding.

This would allow an empeg to be connected to an existing car stereo and still display the track title etc. It might be a better option to a "remote screen" for various hidden installations (if combined with a wired remote).

The cheapest 'kits' I've seen would set you back at least £100, you would also have to hack your FM transmitter apart to feed the MPX through your encoder.

That said, I did see a circuit diagram for building one for about £20 but it required a PC with an LPT port to do all the timing....
