GNR makes a special appearance in the post show of the VMAs. I think the west coast is not live, so if you're into GNR watch the VMA post show. I missed the first few minutes because MTV is basically crap and I decided not to watch. It's a good thing a friend called me up.

Wait, didn't they just DO the awards like about three months ago? What, do they like do awards by the quarter now instead of per annum? Jeez.

Ah, well, it's not like you can tell the difference. They could do the nosepicking awards and it would be the same thing.
(I generally dislike awards shows of any kind, including the oscars, such a waste usually)

True, but then again, you can barely tell that MTV shows the music videos they're honoring.
What a horrible station. I think they were actually happy to see Kurt Loder go. He is gone, isn't he? I know he was on there for like 15 years longer than he should have been, but he's gone now, right??
Anyway, that's pretty cool that they were on, I suppose. but I've heard they're just not the same GNR. A friend of mine is a complete GNR nut. He diesn't like the new incarnation. Despite Buckethead

Supposedly only Axl and Dizzy are still left.
Sorry if I offend anyone, but they sounded like crap. I swore I could hear dogs barking when Axl sang.
As my friend put it: "his voice was somewhat forgiveable when he was strung out. Now it's just bad."

I agree with Axl's crappy singing, but it's GNR. I am not a nut, but I have been waiting for a new album for years. I thought it was a cool performance

He appeared to be having trouble with his earpiece, especially through "Welcome to the Jungle." Ask any singer how hard it is to sing without a monitor....
I too have been anticipating for quite a while some new stuff...hopefully, they'll put out another album soon.

I agree, he wasnt that good for whatever reason, this is the second time a member of GNR let me down at awards shows. I beleive it was last year, someone correct me if Im wrong, when they had slash talking about correography and other crap.
Im I the only one that just had their childhood image of GNR go down the drain? Slash was supposed to be the ultimate badass, but here he was with his face showing and talking.
it just ruined it.
maybe im just nuts

Hmm. To be honest, I think trying to reincarnate GNR (in name only) is a bad move. GNR had a great run, came around at exactly the right time, with the exact right kind of music, and the exact right accompanying "rock and roll" attitude. This new band doesn't even remind me of GNR's sound. Axl's voice, earpiece or no earpiece, just wasn't right last night. Most importantly, Slash wasn't on stage. Come on. Slash was as big a part of GNR's sound as Axl.
I think it would have been better to have Axl just do a solo thing. If Izzy wants to contribute, that's fine, but to call this Guns N' Roses just doesn't make sense to me. Plus if it was a brand new thing with a new name, there wouldn't be as much comparison to the old stuff (though it wouldn't be bad if they did a few GNR "covers" now and then...)
I will enjoy watching things unfold, though.

Well, last I heard, Slash was putting the whole band back together, sans the "Red Haired One". So that might be of interest to you. I don't know if they'd be covering old tunes, but it would be GNR again I suppose. I also enjoy seeing what unfolds with these things

That was a truly awful performance by GNR. Did they think that song would catch on with the "kids" in the mosh pit? Those kids weren't even 10 years old when "Welcome to the Jungle" was made. They are done, that was the only gig they will get.

I was 6 when Welcome to the Jungle was made. What's your point?
I got into GNR in the late 80s and early 90s when Illusion came out. GNR is one of my all-time favorite bands. It's hard to say who my favorite is, but they're definitely in the top 5.

I got really into them for a while and when they played Wembley they were awesome, but when they did Gateshead in 1992 they really sucked. The two support bands blew them away. Admittedly those two bands were Soundgarden and Faith No More so I guess that's no surprise.
Without Slash, I'm not sure I approve.
