HOW do you people get those big smiles off of your faces? really, i want to know because i have this really big grin on my face ever since getting my rio 60GB monster today.

i have a question, can i connect the rio through a cable router? i know there is mention of a hub in the faq but on our home network, we are using a router to share the internet connection and local files. i could buy a crossover cable but that would mean i can't surf the net while uploading my data to the rio.

i am uploading some songs right now using the USB cable with windows XP professional. i read all over these pages that the USB doesn't work with XP? anyways, i uploaded 64MB in 4 minutes. is that relativley slow compared to ethernet? im sorry if i am asking some things that are the faq but i've looked and really haven't found anything on this.

Develop distributed filesystems and spend evenings trying to track unreproducible server problems and client hangs which don't happen with any hardware I can afford.

Try it sometime.

yeah, well kinda.

Using emplode over ethernet I find that I get 25 Megabytes pers minute or so.
With jEmplode, I get 30 Megabytes pers minute or a bit more.

FTP is another story where I get 45-50 Megabytes per minute. but that's just FTP.
You can't FTP your songs and playlists..........
........yet.

As long as it will route between "inside" nodes, sure. I don't know of any that won't, but...

Mine's actually on a private network inside my house, but different than the rest of my machines; Everything but the TiVonet and the Empeg have routable addresses

Most cable/DSL/broadband routers have a 3-4 port switch built in. Empeg can work with hubs and switches. You should have no problem if you're router has a switch.

In a word, "Yes" plug it into your cable/DSL router.
