As another recently new owner, I can see where you are coming from.
I put off upgrading for about a week so that I could get used to the 'basic' system (1.03).
Reading the FAQ's and the Manual gets you most familiar with the overall operation.
But then, upgrading to vs 2.00b11 was like adding a supercharger!!, it's fantastic what the
guys have developed.
I had the upgrade files downloaded and at the ready to take that extra step; even chose
my new logo's to do the whole package.

On the other hand . . . . if you like to tinker, then you've already had enough time to do that,
upgrade NOW; it's pretty easy to pickup the modifications as you go along.

I haven't installed all of the hacks yet, haven't found them necessary for my current usage.
I know I will keep adding on as I learn the ways of the empeg.

So my 0.02c says keep playing/learning as you feel the need and find the time.
It'll be hard to wipe the grin off each time you discover some new 'trick'!
And then you have to show it to all your friends too ! !
