Quote: If it says "RIO CAR", then it is a Mark 2A player.
The most important piece of information we need is the player's serial number so we can look to see if it's a stolen player. If the player powers up correctly, you can find the serial number in one of the player's menus.
(There's nothing to prevent a thief from posting a fake serial number, but in that instance, since the number is hard-burned into the unit's electronics, the final buyer would discover after-the-fact whether the number was fake or not.)
tfabris - I have always wondered about my player as it seems the person I bought it from off ebay did not really know what they were doing with it, took several folks on here to get me up and running. While my player did come with a sled still not 100% sure that the person I bought it from was the original owner. The person did not include the original lens, which I can understand maybe losing it or selling it. The sled on it did not show signs that it had been installed. Anyway here is my serial number 30102880. The user info on it when I got it was just garbage from what I remember.
Not that I would just willingly turn over the Empeg, now that I have put some money in to it, but I would be more then willing in help provide proof of sales and contact information on the person that I bought the player from. I know what it feels like all to well to have someone do the five finger discount on my stuff and while getting my equipment back would have been nice actually being able to file charges would have been better.
