You can certainly try gluing it first -- cannot hurt, really.

For something a little more permanent (glue versus heat: glue loses), there are replacement cable assemblies available (Stu/Eutronix).

Or you can replace (or have someone else replace) the factory cable with a pin header on the displayboard and a new ribbon with crimp-on connectors at *both* ends.

I've done this for several players now, and it's a good solution that allows adding a slight extra amount of cable length to avoid the dreaded "pinched ribbon cable" that happens when a player is dropped.
