To further clarify, you are going to have to manually switch the wireless ethernet on and off with a powerswitch of some sort, or leave it hardwired always on.

Either way should be simple. The biggest problem I see here is a stepdown from ~12V to 5V cleanly. And that isn't that hard of a problem.
