Will the empeg recognize long presses from such remotes?

Really impossible to say if the empeg will recognize *anything* from it unless the carrier frequency is known. Even then, it's possible that remote just sends a "pressed" code and no "released" code in which case there would be no way to detect short vs. long presses.
